Tree commission holding Halloween-Fall home decorating contest
FREMONT — The Fremont annual Halloween/Fall Decorating Contest sponsored by the Fremont Tree and Beautification Commission is underway.
Nominations of addresses or names will be accepted through Oct. 21, with judging taking place Oct. 23. Post the entries on the Fremont Tree commission’s Facebook page or text Rick Heimbaugh at 419-307-8924 with nominations or questions.
Clyde decorating contest wraps up Oct. 23
CLYDE — The Clyde Halloween Decorating Contest is open to Clyde area residents or business owners in the Clyde-Green Springs School District. Decorating must be completed on the exterior of a building or a window visible from the street no later than Oct. 23.
Judging will take place either Oct. 24 or 25. First place prize is $50, second, $35, and third, $25.
Kin Hunters to hold election of officers
FREMONT – It is time for the Kin Hunters of Sandusky County to elect a new president and vice president.
Nancy Pickens and Rebecca Fisher are running for those offices; the treasurer is running unchallenged. The group needs a corresponding secretary and a recording secretary.
The club votes at 2 p.m. Nov. 13 at its meeting.
The group will meet at Hayes Presidential Library. After voting there will be time to do some research at the library. The group will return to the Sandusky Township Hall at 2207 Oak Harbor Road for future meetings. The public is welcome to attend.
Photo booth to provide Bellevue theater scene at open house
BELLEVUE — On Sunday 1-4 p.m. Bellevue history-lovers can re-create a 1919 photograph taken in front of an old Bellevue theater. Featuring a real buffalo hide, the photo booth is part of a free open house at the Historical Society’s office, 108 N. West St., and in the red building behind the Tremont House.
The Fur Trade in Old Bellevue played an important role in the city’s development. Guests can explore some stories from the era, put their hands on some furs, and consider the evolution of attitudes regarding fur fashions. Historian Dan Baker will be on hand to answer questions.
